SN’s Sean Deveney previously reported James was “very likely” to return to the Heat, but the length of the stay was up in the air. James could still opt to re-sign with the Heat as a free agent.

Miami did little to improve its roster following back-to-back titles, jettisoning Mike Miller and Joel Anthony while taking on reclamation projects like Michael Beasley and Greg Oden. James and the Heat were defeated by the Spurs, 4-1, in the NBA Finals.

Following the NBA Finals, The Associated Press and others reported James would take a vacation before making any decisions about his future.

Of course, LeBron infamously joined the Heat in 2010 with “The Decision,” a televised spectacle that James has since said he regrets and wouldn’t repeat.
